wellbalancedexp asked: i'm doing ccumming's poem in just for my public speaking class, i was just wondering what kind of tone i should use?
I’m not much of an expert at reading poetry aloud (although coincidentally, “in Just” was the very first cummings poem that I read and, I think, the first I heard read aloud). I just reread the poem to myself, and I tend to speak in a natural tone with a hint of reading-a-fairy-tale-aloud-to-children. I do emphasize the dashes and big spaces between words. Just don’t go too fast. Try reading it aloud to yourself a few times and see what works best to get across the feeling that you want.
(Any other suggestions from my readers? Let wellbalancedexp know!)
