eecummingspoetry asked: I'm also an E.E. Cummings enthusiast and think the idea of a tumblr for him is just great. I've started my own and would love to have support of your followers as well now that you're taking a bit of a break from posting! Figure there's enough e.e. love to go around :)

A Note to All:
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I don’t often post to this tumblr anymore. It’s for no one reason in particular; there are many more poems out there, but from my end, the posting has more or less run its course. This isn’t a final end to the tumblr, though. I’ll be around. Please continue to stop by - I always love to hear how much other people appreciate ee...

Anonymous asked: hello!

do you know if this poem is really cummings'?

"may I be I is the only prayer—
not may I be great or good
or beautiful or wise or strong."

mellymouse asked: So I love love love this idea. I just want to point out that while it's popular to lower-case-ify his name, it's proper to capitalize it. He signed letters, etc. in lower case as a humility thing -- same with the lower case i's. He never changed his name to lower case or preferred to be referred to in lower case, like bell hooks. So E. E. Cummings is "more correct."

– e.e. cummings I did a reading of this poem for my 11th grade english class and I remember being totally nervous about pretending to have a sexual climax in front of my peers. My point was that some of his poems were meant to be read aloud, such as this one, wherein the rhythm with which he writes...

Anonymous asked: Do you know if cummings' poem, "you shall above all things..." is in the public domain? I am working on a book for educators and want to us the poem's last two lines to provoke thinking about professional practice. The publisher/editor has warned me against using any poetry unless it is in the public domain because it is so challenging and so expensive to get permission to...

ammirare asked: A suggestion:

Look for an audiobook of cummings himself delivering his poetry. I once checked out a two-disk set at a library, and it was interesting to see how the man himself would read his own poetry. If you're going for something more dramatic, it might not be the best route for inspiration, but otherwise, it's a keen resource to check out.
